Our journey takes us long the coast road to the famous ruins of Herculaneum.
Like Pompeii also Herculaneum was submerged under a lava flow torrent during the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius of 79 AD., which hardened into a kind of rock that preserved many of the features and objects of the houses which we can see until today. A large part of the city is still buried under the rock and archaeological excavations are still active today.
